Touring Detroit’s College Campuses     

Detroit’s college and university campuses offer quiet spaces to reflect, relax and take in some of the city’s most unique architecture and history. From Tudor Revival-style mansions and Gothic-style architecture to world-class golf courses and national historical landmarks, Detroit’s campuses provide unique spaces for inquisitive visitors or potential new students to explore. Few activities are more inspiring and relaxing than a walk around campus, and Detroit has plenty to choose from.

Wayne State University

Wayne State University's 200-acre campus is located in Midtown Detroit’s University Cultural Center, and is Michigan’s only urban research university. University of Detroit Mercy

The McNichols Campus, located in northwest Detroit features landmarks such as the WWI Memorial Clock Tower, and beautiful buildings such as the Warren Loranger School of Architecture, all within a close distance to Downtown, Royal Oak and Ferndale. Virtual tour of campus | Schedule a visit 

University of Michigan-Dearborn

More than 70 acres of U-M Dearborn’s 196-acre campus make up one of Detroit’s largest natural areas. The campus, donated by the Ford Motor Company in 1959, is home to the Henry Ford Estate, a National Historic Landmark.

Oakland University

Oakland University’s 1,500-acre campus is home to Meadow Brook Hall, a 110-room Tudor revival–style mansion and the fourth-largest historic house museum in the United States. The museum’s art collection includes works by Rembrandt, among other famous sculptors and painters, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The campus also features two nationally-ranked golf courses, an 18-hole disc golf course and numerous hiking and biking trails.

Marygrove College

The Marygrove College campus is dotted with Tudor Gothic-style architecture, most notably in the Liberal Arts Building and Madame Cadillac Hall, both completed in 1927 and built with Bedford stone. The campus is located on a 53-acre sanctuary right in the heart of the city.

College for Creative Studies

The College for Creative Studies, a renowned school for design, has two Detroit campuses: The Walter and Josephine Ford Campus and the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education. The campuses are home to unique facilities such as a foundry, and glassblowing and ceramic studios.
