Chic, eclectic and surprising are all words that describe the Peacock Room, one of Detroiters’ favorite boutique shops.

The Peacock Room

  The Peacock Room at Woodward.

Located in the Park Shelton in downtown Detroit’s Midtown neighborhood, it’s the perfect example of unique shopping options in The D. And its location won’t disappoint either; the Park Shelton dates back to 1926 and was designed in the popular art-deco architectural style of the era.

This December will mark the Peacock Room’s one-year anniversary of selling vintage and modern apparel, accessories and gifts for women, and keeping customers raving about their amazing finds. The store boasts a variety of dresses, scarves, necklaces, hats, handbags and more for all occasions and tastes. Mix, match, dress it up or dress it down. If you’re looking for something a little bit different—something you can’t get anywhere else—for that special someone this holiday season, there’s a good chance you’ll find it at the Peacock Room.

Emerald

Vintage-inspired books on display at Emerald.
Right around the corner from the Peacock Room, in the old Leopold’s Books location, is Emerald, a recently revealed pop-up gift shop selling home and gift items with a vintage-inspired twist. The shop features an all-things-Detroit display with Detroit notebooks, postcards, matted artwork, Sanders treats and more, and is currently home to the men’s fashion items—fedora hats, knapsacks, ties and more—that used to be a part of the Peacock Room. Emerald opened this past October and will stay open for six months, just long enough to snatch up gifts for those on your list.
