The 97.1 The Ticket SportsFest is Detroit’s biggest fan appreciation event and your best opportunity to meet some of your favorite Detroit sports stars. Current and former athletes from the Detroit Red Wings, Pistons, Tigers and Lions will be at SportsFest to sign autographs and meet fans Saturday, Feb. 16 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

Former Detroit Red Wings Nicklas Lidstrom and Tomas Holmstrom are expected to attend, along with former Detroit Pistons Cory Schlesinger, Rick Mahorn, James Edwards, John Long and Earl Cureton. Detroit Lions wide receiver Ryan Broyles and kicker Jason Hanson will be signing autographs along with former Detroit Tiger Denny McClain.

The event will also include youth clinics, interactive games and appearances by Detroit team mascots. If you love sports talk, 97.1 The Ticketpersonalities will be participating in roundtable discussions on the main stage, and you’ll get an opportunity to meet your favorite sportscasters. Nostalgic fans will especially enjoy the impressive display of sports memorabilia, and if you’d like to take a break from the excitement, you can relax in the on-site Sports Pub.

SportsFest attendance is free, but a $10 donation to benefit the 97.1 The Ticket/Beaumont Student Heart Check program earns you a wristband for access to autograph sessions. Due to high demand, a wristband lottery may be used for select autograph sessions.

To make an evening of it, get dinner after SportsFest at the nearby Stingers Bar & Grill, where live bands play every Saturday night, or make it a family outing and take the kids to Paradise Park to show off your skills. The Paradise Park sports complex includes batting and soccer cages, mini golf, a climbing wall, Go-Kart track, laser tag and an arcade. If you’re in the mood to do a little shopping instead, Novi Town Center and Twelve Oaks Mall are both close by. Both have a variety of upbeat restaurants with tasty dishes and desserts that will top off your evening.

Our sports branch, Detroit Sports Commission, has a special giveaway...

"If you're one of the first 10 people to sign-up you will receive a street pole banner from either the 2012 World Series, 2010 NCAA Frozen Four, or WrestleMania 23. Lastly, you will also go home with a DSC t-shirt, water bottle, lanyard and pin."
