During National Tourism Week, on May 6, the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau (DMCVB) hosted Discover The D: Hometown Tourist Day in Campus Martius Park. Hundreds of local residents and workers flocked to Detroit’s gathering place to visit tents filled with regional attractions, hotels, tour companies, restaurants and others, all celebrating what a great time it is to explore metro Detroit.

The DMCVB revealed its latest effort to promote tourism to metro Detroit: the D-Rover, a multipurpose van that will travel to events such as the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix and Ford Arts, Beats & Eats — just to name a few — to get visitors and local residents excited about what there is to see and do in their own backyard. Staff in the D-Rover will share magazines, maps, giveaways and other materials to help you plan your next trip or staycation in Detroit.
