DIY Street Fair
Ferndale’s DIY Street Fair returns this weekend with a stellar lineup of local Detroit artists, musicians, restaurants and brewers. The independent spirit of one of Detroit’s most vibrant and unique suburbs will be on display for two days and three nights, for FREE, to anyone in the area.
Ferndale’s DIY Street Fair is organized by local businesses to benefit Ferndale, Detroit and the surrounding area. Ferndale is particularly well-suited for such an artistic event due to its homegrown atmosphere, its innovative products and businesses, and its diverse population, all right on Woodward Avenue.
Event highlights for 2012 include the Kids Zone, with entertainment including a climbing wall and Ferris Wheel; a DIY 5K charity run benefiting Ferndale Public Schools’ arts program; live music from popular local acts such as Fawn and Lighting Love; food from Treat Dreams, Taco Mama, El Guapo, OM Cafe, Howe’s Bayou, Detroit BBQ Company, Garden Fresh Gourmet, The Emory, The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company, People’s Pierogi Collective, Woodward Avenue Brewers and more; a beer garden featuring local beers and brewers from all across Michigan, including Woodward Avenue Brewers, Arbor Brewing Company, Mt. Pleasant Brewing, Milking It Productions, Founders, Brewery Vivant, New Holland and Liberty Street; and arts, crafts and music for sale from local businesses and performers.
Instagram users around Detroit should be sure to participate in the DIY Street Fair’s Instafeed. Tag your Instagram photos with #DIYStreetFair to be included in what is sure to be an interesting and eclectic mix of photos.
